I have read on various forums and had emails from people who say they faithfully enter contests, sweepstakes and giveaways, sometimes for hours every day, but never win - and this can go on for months, sometimes years. Here I will explore what I believe may make the difference between winning consistently and losing.
~~~~~Read the rules! Don't try to enter for things you don't qualify and hope the sponsors won't notice or will reward you the prize anyways. It can happen, but not often and it's bad juju for you. ~~~~~Don't enter for anyone other than yourself. I'm not talking necessarily of those you live with and have their express permission, especially young children or your spouse, unless it expressly states the entrant must enter for themselves. You would be surprised at the number of people who openly admit to entering for all sorts of people including distant relatives, neighbors, their dog, etc. Umm yeah, anyone can track your isp and sponsors don't care for this. ~~~~~If you only enter for huge mega-prizes by national, well known sponsors with massive advertising campaigns such as the Dream Home giveaway your chances drop drastically. Sure, it only takes one entry to win, but that entry is mixed in with thousands and thousands (if not more) of other entries. ~~~~~Your changes of winning increase exponentially the harder something is to enter- the more requirements there are, or if there is a specific skill involved such as creating a recipe or video the less people will take the time to enter. Along those lines, believing that certain types of sweeps or giveaways are "too much trouble", especially blogs. Last year, I won $1,000 from a one time blog entry. Too much trouble? I don't think so. ~~~~~You don't keep track of what you enter and disqualify yourself. This seems fairly obvious but if you do this for any length of time you'll know what I mean. Some sponsors repeat prizes and giveaways on a weekly or monthly or whatever basis and you'll drop your name in the hat so to speak without realizing enough time hasn't passed or whatever. Many companies and blogs give out the same prizes so if you aren't tracking where you enter you run the risk of doubling your entries and voiding your chances. ~~~~~If it says don't use automated software, don't use automated software. This does NOT include RoboForm or other form fillers etc unless it states so specifically. For the most part, sponsors want you to physically visit their site, which you do when using a form filler. People will blatantly admit to using programs to do all the work, and sometimes they will win, but I believe more frequently they are caught and their entries deleted. ~~~~~You don't take the time to enter local sweeps, which are much less publicized and of course have greater odds. We'll be addressing where to find sweeps and contests to enter in an upcoming post, so stay tuned. ~~~~~What I personally believe is the most important reason some of us win regularly and others not at all- you don't believe you will win. Positive Mental Attitude (PMA), Law of Attraction (LOA), Thoughts Become Things, whatever you call it, I KNOW that what you believe (at the core level) is true for you. If you need to shift thinking, we hope you will explore our Soul Food Sunday posts, if they resonate with you they can be life altering. Alternatively, you can search for affirmations, law of attraction, etc articles on your own- and if you use Swag Bucks you will earn enough for some great prizes or even cash via PayPal. ~~~~~Please feel free to browse through our Win With Us Wednesday posts for more hints and tips on winning contests, sweepstakes and giveaways. We'll be updating regularly with more great info.
