EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique

On the path to enlightenment* most if not all of us have "issues" we have to get past to move forward.  Anything from chronic physical pain, things that we were taught and have believed since we were children, physical and/or emotional abuse, addiction, etc that we just need a little (or a lot of) help getting over.

*I use enlightenment very broadly here- to me it doesn't mean I know all of the secrets that the Universe holds or the answer to every question ever asked as I don't personally believe that is attainable for anyone on this plane and I also believe it evolves as we do, but that I am on a quest to be the best possible version of myself, for myself and for the world.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years, very successfully, but it can be painful, traumatic, invasive and costly.  EFT, which is short for Emotional Freedom Technique is a form of tapping that hits on those same pressure points on your head/face, chest and sometimes hands while you "talk out" your issues, starting with your core belief and moving on to the new, affirming belief you would like to have/now intend.

I have read a few books, participated in a teleseminar, watched a few videos and done EFT tapping on my own.  Some people swear by it, others think it is a bunch of hogwash, still others like myself know it works to some extent on some people, and have used it somewhat successfully but personally I choose to have many resources and use that which feels best to me at the time.  When I have a particularly rough hurdle I will give eft a shot, and I know that it helps even if it doesn't completely eradicate my barriers.  This could be because of my impatience and/or low boredom threshhold and that I don't work on a single issue long enough to completely resolve it.

I'm going to give you an extremely basic rundown on one tapping session that I have done that has changed my core belief so I am now in a new place as well as what I would need to change to get to the next level, then direct you to some resources where you can learn more if you feel it is a good fit for you.

Like many of us I started off with limiting beliefs involving money, hearing as a child things like dirty money, the rich get richer, the middle class just can't get a break, money changes people, I'm always broke, there's never enough month left at the end of the money, if you don't save you'll end up in the poorhouse or on the street, money is the root of all evil, what makes you so special? you don't deserve,  etc...  I'm sure you have heard many of the same things and possibly believe them- that is what you start your round of tapping repeating (silently or out loud, whichever works for you).

The next round of tapping involves getting rid of those beliefs so it went something like money is just an object used to exchange for things I want, money has no power good or bad, I've always had enough to meet my needs, I've never known anyone who went to the poorhouse or lived on the street, I always somehow managed to make it through the month with or without money, I've never gone hungry, I've always had a roof over my head, I've always been able to feed and clothe my children, etc.

Moving on to I know I'll always have enough to pay my bills and have the basics of life, somehow, some way things always work out, we've always managed one way or another.

This is my basic core belief now-  We'll always manage one way or another.  Unfortunately at this level, there are some hairy moments when the washer breaks or you are praying the rustbucket holds together until you can find a way to get another car etc.  It's somewhat reassuring, because even when we just flat did not have the income to pay our basic bills we somehow always managed without bill collectors, have plenty of food, were able to help those less fortunate.

Call me greedy but I want more.  What I will change it to (yes, optimistic, but also I know it is doable) is: There is plenty for everyone.  If I have more it adds to the whole.  It takes away nothing from anyone else if I have a luxurious lifestyle.  Me having more means I can do more good in the world.  If I have the money to do the things that bring me joy that can only be a good thing.  You get the idea.

So, I have work to do.  If I didn't have anything to strive for, I'd be dead.  As Abraham says, we never get it wrong and we never get it done so don't worry so much.

If these don't work for you, you can find resources all over the web, and if you sign up for Swag Bucks when you do your searches you have a chance to win points towards gc's or PayPal- it is how I buy the extras and gifts for my family- I've turned them in for Amazon codes 18 times (so far) and am working towards my 19th.  Actually, Swag Bucks is great for any and all searches you do as you will be rewarded for something you already do.

Does this look like something you might try?  What issues do you have to get over before you can move forward?  I'm willing to bet if EFT can't solve them completely for you they will at least get you moving in the right direction.
