Our Intentions for 2011 - What are you hoping for with the coming year?

Happy New Year 2011 Comments and Graphics for MySpace, Tagged, Facebook

2010 has been a year of many changes- some good, some that are taking some getting used to.  Despite having the best of intentions, sometimes life gets in the way.  Another way of putting it- we make plans, God laughs.  All in all, we're counting our blessings.

I am totally ready to let go of the old and in with the new- WELCOME 2010!

I don't do resolutions as I believe that's setting ourselves up for failure, but I do have goals, dreams and visions.

This year, I am going to set my intentions without giving myself deadlines (again, that whole life getting in the way thing) in every area of my life because I am much too scatterbrained to work without direction, which has been a problem for me in the past.

There are a lot of things I want to accomplish, and I believe if I have specific things to focus on I'll be able to get more done-  as it is when I get low energy on top of living with constant pain (low blood, low iron etc) I just don't have the ability to stick with one thing until it is done, I'm all over the place and so I get a lot of projects started but many of them never quite get completed.  Other days, I'm lucky to get a shower in (that's how we know I'm not dead sometimes). ;-)

Also, the little divas have specific areas of interest and things they help me with, but they want to know what my priorities for them are and unfortunately, sometimes I am incapable of telling them.  (This sounds like an excuse and I despise whining about my problems- unless I am having designated whine time, ;-) but frequently I have to wait until I have about half the blood you are supposed to have until I can get a transfusion-  my body lacks the ability to create new blood or absorb iron or potassium) and I get to where I can barely decide simple things like what I want to wear or eat let alone what is most important at that moment, so I am going to try to set a (flexible) schedule- for our home and for the blog, so the most important things are not the things that we let slide.

We're going to be trying for more consistency with the blog, and the girls are going to be doing more so everything doesn't get put on hold when I am low energy etc.

A few of the things that are high priority are- getting the house spiffed up, starting with setting up a dedicated craft area and getting back into crafting, something that was a passion before I got so sick and that all of us enjoy.

Painting the kitchen and redoing the counters as well as going through everything and keeping only what I use and love (WAY too much crap, some we barely use-  Ki still has to take some of her stuff that got re-mixed when she moved in for a while and some to be donated to a good home).

Trying out a lot more recipes, both others and our own creations- and actually posting them :P spending more time learning / playing with my toys.

Gardening- we might have a barter deal going on-  yard space in exchange for fresh veggies, if not at least doing some container gardening this year.

Doing a lot more local things- both for fun and for the blog-  as much as I kid about living in the middle of no freakin' where (C'mon, Toadsuck, Skunks Hollow, Pickles Gap, etc) Arkansas really does have a lot to offer.
We'd like to feature some of the area and businesses.

Really cracking down on the frugal thing- we're pretty good at scoring the deals, and I don't want to reinvent the wheel and post what so many others do matching deals with coupons and what each store has on special, but if there is interest and inclination, we'll probably post the best deals we found- there are SO MANY markdowns and managers specials we find in store that are local and I know I appreciate it when someone tells me about great finds.

Finding more eco-friendly yet affordable alternatives for the things we already use/do when we can.

There's more, especially on the personal front, but that's enough to share for now- don't want to bore anyone to death.

Do you make resolutions, intentions goals etc at the start of the year?  What do you hope 2011 brings for you and your family?

All the best to you and yours in the coming year and always.

Wordless Wednesday Christmas 2010 Poor sick baby dragon w/linky

Ian was really sick for Christmas and missed some of the fun, and we didn't get to everything we wanted to do- he pretty much wanted to lay around for most of the week, but he still managed to storm the castle with his Toothless dragon and have a good time. Sorry the pics are so awful, we really need a) better lighting in the house and a really great camera.

So, in a few pics, this was our holiday- how was yours? Be sure to link up so we can stop by and say hello.

Season's Greetings from The Divas and the poor sick baby dragon. Notice the cheese-eater grin?

Gigi (aka known as Hiccup, the clueless teenage viking boy) loves her Toothless dragon).

Mallory1031 at gmail dot com

You were chosen by random.org as the winner of your item of choice from the new arrivals section.

We are thrilled to have been given the chance to do a review and giveaway for DownEast Basics.

The first thing we did was choose an item to review.   Although there was much interest in the sparkle cami and the bling jeans (hello, divas here)

I finally settled on the Oh La La Overcoat in Gunmetal and have received so many compliments on it I know I made an excellent choice.

I received it the day before I was admitted to the hospital and was able to wear it to the first Arkansas Bloggers meet up and I was so happy with my choice.

The jacket is really well made and warm without being stifling or restrictive and has enough detail like the flap and button tab to make it current and fresh.  The girls tried calling dibs but this one is for mama, though they will be able to borrow it.

I was really surprised at the quality considering the prices (very affordable) and won't hesitate to recommend checking them out when you want to update your wardrobe, or purchasing from them myself.

Guess what?  DownEast Basics has generously offered to give one of our readers an item of their choice from the new arrivals section.

Shenzhen Knives Chef Series. Ceramic Knife Set - 3-piece (Chef's, Slicing & Paring)

Here in the loonyverse, cooking and baking is either a passion, a chore to be gotten through or something to be avoided at all costs, depending on which diva you are.

That being said, there is something we all agree on- quality tools make all the difference in the experience.  A good quality knife can virtually shave half the time off of your chopping and slicing chores.

We've been hearing a lot recently about ceramic knives and were really curious if they lived up to the hype.

We had the opportunity to review the 6" chef's knife from Shenzen.  I'll say this-  it doesn't look particularly sharp, but in this case looks are definitely deceiving.

We've been using the knife for a while now and two of us have carelessly nicked ourselves- and let me tell you that blade can slice.

Shenzen knives are surprisingly affordable and I can honestly say that we will be getting the other sizes.

They won't completely replace all of our knives- for one thing they don't make all of the sizes we use and they aren't for your everyday heavy duty tasks, for another I can dirty a dozen knives in a day when I am on a roll, especially if Ki is helping me, so will use different knives for different purposes but I definitely recommend Shenzen ceramic knives, especially if you are just starting out or don't have a good set. You can have quality for very little (comparitively) money and don't have to do what we did and struggle and struggle with cheapo knives, which makes cooking much more of a chore than it needs to be, whether you love it or hate it.

I love the fact that they hold its edge much longer than the steel blade - that is one of the few things I don't like about most of our knives- they need frequent resharpening due to tons of use.

You can buy Shenzen knives (and a ceramic peeler) at Amazon.

Shenzhen Knives. White Ceramic Chef's Knife

THE GIVEAWAY:  Shenzen also provided us with a knife to give to one of our very lucky readers.  US only 18+ ends 1/10 at 11:59pm CST.

Main Entry:  We'll make this easy- tell us something about your knives- do you have a nice set or does it take you forever to saw through a steak?  Have you tried ceramic knives yet?  If so what do you think of them?

Menu for week of 12/27 - 1/2 New Year's Good Luck Menu

The divas wish you and yours a Happy New Year filled with love, joy and an abundance of all good things.

Superstitious or not, we cover our bases with our Good Luck New Year's Menu-  do you have any special recipes or foods you eat to bring you good fortune in the coming year?  We're willing to open our minds and try new things, we need all the good fortune we can get our hands on.  Especially if they are tastier than black-eyed peas!  (Sorry, only BEPs we like are the band members. ;-)

Here's what's cooking at our house, what's on your menu this week?

Choice of 15 bean soup or split pea soup, corn muffins or dinner rolls

Spaghetti and homemade meatballs, garlic bread

Chef's salad with tons of veggies, ham and cheese, thousand island dressing

Meatball subs with melted provolone and mozzarella, tossed salad w/creamy parmesan dressing

New Year's Eve feast- cheese and summer sausage platter, dips, crudeties, chips, crackers and other dippers, miscellaneous other goodies

Good Luck New Year's Dinner pork roast for good juju (pigs root forward- looking to the future), LOTS of cabbage, both cooked and raw- sauteed in butter and coleslaw for abundance in all good things, as many black-eyed peas as we can handle for good luck (one bean (well, technically maybe a pea or legume, whatever) I never learned to like, actually, none of us like them- and YES, we have had them made by excellent cooks) but I literally shovel spoonfuls then swallow like meds so they go down a bit easier, lots of greens (can only stomach spinach) for money, both cooked and raw- sauteed lightly and a big salad with baby spinach, mixed field greens, goat cheese, pears, sugared pecans and a honey based vinaigrette .

Scalloped potatoes with ham, green peas and/or green beans, fruit cups

How did I ever live without these? Snapware review and giveaway. CLOSED

Thank you all for stopping by and taking the time to enter.

I don't know about you, but we seem to be on a never-ending quest for better organizational solutions and thanks to Snapware one of our holiday dilemmas has been solved-  we received the 2-Layer Ornament Box and it is even more wonderful than I imagined when I first heard about it.

It is much sturdier than we expected based on what's available in the discount stores around here and we were able to pack up all of our most special ornaments-  I collect Lenox Grinch ornaments and while I unfortunately lost most of my Snowbabies collection I do have the light up Rudolph one that means a lot to me and some Disney ornaments and the girls and Ian each have their faves, as well as things they have made.

We were also fortunate enough to receive the Cupcake carrier-  wow, talk about something you didn't know you needed until you got it then you wonder how you lived without it for so long.  If only I had had this when the girls were younger.  Still, we have a lot of potlucks and the girls take goodies to their friends all the time and with the cupcake carrier you can make sure your goodies arrive safely and beautifully decorated (or not so beautifully, depending on how quickly you had to slap them together-  HA!  Who else has kids who let them know at 10 pm they need a couple dozen cookies for the bake sale and are leaving at 7 am or whatever?)  Hopefully Ian won't be so-  slow in telling his mama and gigi what he needs.

Fabulous, right?  I've solved problems you didn't know you had for you.  Even better?  Snapware has generously offered one of our readers the same two items we received.

THE GIVEAWAY:  One very lucky reader will win the  Cupcake Carrier and a 2-Layer Ornament Box.  US only 18+ ends 1/10 at 11:59pm CST

No more spilled milk to cry over with the Stickey Cup Holder

Sponsored by Tomoson.com
Congratulations to our winner, #2 Shanda.
We were very fortunate to be able to review an ingenious product- the Stickey Cup Holder.  What it is is basically a suction cup base that holds your cup in place- now if you have a toddler, you know why they say "no use crying over spilled milk" welhttp://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=7199465891304048105l now thanks to the Stickey Cup Holder you will be saying no more spilled milk- or juice- or water- or ??? to cry over.

This is great for home, but really we think the best use is when we are out and have Ian at a restaurant or friends' house.  I can't even count the number of times we've had to mop up messes and they are ALWAYS (really, it's a law of physics or something) at least twice but more like ten times as messy when you are out.

It's no surprise to us that the Stickey Cup Holder was named one of the top 100 products of 2010 from Dr. Toy.  You can find our more at http://www.stickeycup.com/ and find them on facebook here.

Gaddy Nipper Ooh La La Eiffel Tower Crayons Review and Giveaway CLOSED

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Congratulations, the winner according to random.org is #10 janetfaye.

Being a big fan of recycled things, and perhaps an even bigger fan of "pretty" things, I was fairly gleeful to get the Ooh La La Eiffel Tower crayons! I have learned that some of them are "upcycled" using new crayons, but much of it is still recycled. The crayons (Always high-quality crayola) are melted down and made into lovely new shapes! While these are wonderful for stocking stuffers and party favors, adding a cute, original, funky splash of color, I will point out that they seem a smidge harder to draw with... fine for doodling, not so much for your serious crayon artist.

The Ooh La La Eiffel Tower Crayons come in five lovely springtime colors, and are almost too pretty to use... I might just use them for spring decorations! They come packaged in a little gift bags with pretty ribbons and things, and are really just delightful. Gaddy Nipper has a lot more lovely shapes for any occasion, boys or girls, holiday options, and custom orders are available.

THE GIVEAWAY:  One winner will win some adorable crayons from Gaddy Nipper.  US only, 18+ ends 12/29

Christmas eve brunch up at Gram's-  we're taking a splendiferous Petit Jean ham to share with the extended family along with a goodie tray and who knows what else- there will be lots of great food and better people, fun will be had by all and everyone is home in time to work things out for their own holiday celebrations.

Christmas eve feast-  while we are out looking at lights at the first hint of darkness, Santa does a super-quickie drive by and leaves us new jammies, a family movie (we wore out our original copy of Miracle on 34th Street b&w so hoping for that, and somehow the Grinch got losteded soooooooooo crossing fingers) and a FEAST! of Hickory Farms sausage, cheeses, mustards, melt away mints! which are all of the divas faves!, crackers and we set it out along with some of our cookies, fudge and other goodies while taking turns getting the stink blowed off (bathing and showering) and putting on our new jammies then settling in for a fabulous night while we anxiously put off going to bed as long as we can then snuggling down to wait for Santa to make his "real" visit.

Christmas dinner-  Rare Who Roast Beast-  I like mine in sandwiches with some of the Hickory Farms sweet hot mustard (but the new cranberry one they have this year is to die for- must get more- and make a turkey- now that will be some amazing sandwich- turkey, havarti, greens, tomato and cranberry mustard on some wonderful whole grain bread) but back to Christmas dinner-  Rare Who Roast Beast, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, relish tray, all kinds of condiments, crudities and snacks- we pretty much nosh all day.

Breakfast for dinner-  Dev's awesome omelets, toast, fruit

What is cooking at your house this holiday week?  Do you do anything special, any fave recipes or traditions?  Do tell, we'd love to share with you.

Snowball Cookies

These are some of our very favorite cookies- they are soooooooo good, they literally melt in your mouth.

We call them snowball cookies because that's exactly what they look like, but they are also known as butterball cookies, Russian tea cakes and Mexican wedding cakes.

I think these are some of our most requested cookies, probably because they are a little more labor intensive (rolling out the balls) and hardly anyone makes them any more. They are most definitely worth it, though.

1 lb. butter, softened
3/4 c. confectioners' sugar
2 c. finely chopped walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Additional confectioners' sugar, sifted, to roll the warm cookies in

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Blend butter and confectioners' sugar.

Mix in vanilla.

Slowly mix in flour- dough will be stiff.

Add chopped nuts.

Mix well.

Roll into 1 inch balls.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet (we like to line with parchment paper)

Bake 15-20 minutes til lightly golden- do NOT overbake

Sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar

When cooled off, roll in confectioners' sugar.

Save time and money with Bank of America + giveaway Winner Update

The winner, chosen by random.org is #173
Kim said... 173
Following you on GFC!Congrats, Kim, I'll be emailing you shortly.

As if the holidays weren't crazy enough this year I added a week + stay to the hospital with another week of ER and Dr visits. NOT FUN. Because I am not already running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everyone the perfect gifts, make trays of fabulous goodies and of course fit in all the *extra* activities that seem to accumulate this time of year. Oh, wait, yes, I am.

Thankfully, this year Bank of America has come to the rescue with some time-saving tips that actually make sense (and are good year-round, but especially helpful for getting everything you need done during the holiday season).

* Bank on the go: It’s easy to set up mobile banking and secure access to your money wherever you are. Download the mobile banking app and you can check balances, transfer money, pay bills, and locate ATMs. Sign up for text banking and you’ll be able to send a text message to get your balance instantly in a reply.

* Make quick and easy deposits: Holiday means a lot of extra work, so eliminate the labor of depositing checks. With Bank of America’s Deposit Image ATMs, you simply feed checks or cash into the ATM with no envelopes or deposit slips required. You get images of your checks and a list of cash deposited on your receipt as proof.

* Save a trip to the bank: Don’t worry about making an extra stop to the bank during all of your holiday shopping. Keep track of your spending by using Bank of America’s online banking: set up alerts, check balances, and transfer money.

Here are a few of my favorite holiday tips to help you keep your sanity:

When gifting, go green:  Go green and get back some green with your gift-wrapping by reusing paper products you may already have around the house, like newspaper and even left-over wallpaper. According to the Clean Air Council, in the U.S. alone, four million tons of waste is generated during the holidays from wrapping paper and shopping bags.

“Check in” before you check out:  Consider splitting your bulk purchases with a friend by “checking in” before you check out, using location-based cell phone apps like FourSquare and Facebook Places.  With the real-time location check-in, you will know when a friend is nearby to take advantage of those warehouse savings and special offers with you.

Road trip rules:  Seasoned holiday road-travelers live by three simple rules: 1) invest in a quick pass to whiz past hour-long lines at the tolls, 2) plot out where to get the cheapest gas along the way by using the “gas prices” feature on MapQuest, and 3) pre-pack energy-boosting snacks and beverages to avoid crowded rest stops and fast-food joints.

You can find loads more tips at http://www.bankofamerica.com/solutions and you can follow them on twitter @BofA_Tips for moret time- saving and other financial tips.

Christmas Humor - Fruiter than a Nutcake ;-)

1 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
4 large brown eggs
2 cups of dried fruit
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
Nuts
1 bottle of whiskey

Sample the whiskey to check for quality. Take a large bowl. Check the whiskey again. To be sure it's the
highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter
in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar and beat again. Make sure the whiskey is still OK.
Cry another tup. Tune up the mixer. Beat two legs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried
fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fired druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it goose with a drewscriver.
Sample the whiskey to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who cares?
Check the whiskey. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon the sugar or something. Whatever you can find. Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget
to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the whiskey again and go to bed.

Mom is in the hospital

Sorry to all our readers and our sponsors, but mom is in the hospital again. She was in and out of the ER for a while, and now she is admitted-in, we don't know yet when she will be home but I will try to help catch up the slack until she gets back. Thank you all for your patience and we will keep you updated as best we can! (I would have posted this days ago but I've been with her, helping friends going through personal crises', hopefully getting a fancy new job, and have a cold myself so I kinda forgot my computer exists! Sorry!)

Of all the Charlie Brown Trees...

Ours is the Charlie Browniest.

It's funny, I've had some really nice Christmas trees- and some- well, Charlie Brown trees.

For some inexplicable reason, I end up giving away the nice, even really expensive ones and keeping the lame ducks.  I guess a gazillion years of the Charlie Brown Christmas special really rubbed off on me.

While they may not be to everyone's taste, we love our trees, getting out and putting on the special ornaments and reminiscing.

For your enjoyment, here is what we are enjoying this holiday season.

First we have our main tree, complete with ornaments the kids have made and our very special ornaments as well as our frog fairy topper- yes, I know, it does suit us perfectly.

Next is Cookie's tree, purple of course, and all of the ornaments are - you guessed it- sweets and goodies- from candy to cookies to java drinks, she's got them all.

Last but not least is...  drumroll please... our Charlie tree, fo' real.  What can I say, if our trees don't show you who we are, nothing will.

I am entering our trees in a contest hosted by MamaBuzz and sponsored by Hallmark.  You can find the deets here.

TodaysMama (link to: http://bit.ly/tmwishlist) and GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family?
I wish that we could all spend the holiday season together in New England.
2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition?
We (mostly me) are so antsy that I wake everyone crazy early to see their expressions.
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?
To be able to move back to New England and be by my family.
4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?
We spend time doing things together- whether that is baking, watching a Christmas movie, cutting out snowflakes.  Doesn't matter what, matters who you are doing with.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up?
 Cards, Yahtzee, Boggle, Scrabble
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?
We usually work on a puzzle between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, just whoever is around including guests.
7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?
I would go to New England, on a Disney Cruise or New Orleans.
8. Check out GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?
XBox 360 w/Kinect, PSP & Epic Mickey for the Wii (collectors ed).

Oooh shiny- The Undergarden Game Demo Review

The UnderGarden [Game Download]

So I just played the demo of a game I think y'all will like. Its a little game called Undergarden. In it you play this weird little subterranean sprite thing and you float happily around your caves collecting pollen, and pollinating various forms of softly glowing plants that light up brightly and play music as you pass them.

It's not all just happy floating, though with the pretty soft music and dazzling colors of the plants i could happily do just that. there are obstacles in your path, and creatures called musicians to take with you. crystals to find and hidden places to explore.

As you go through the games you also get costume pieces to adorn your cute lil guy with. The puzzles i have seen so far are physics based, meaning you pick up fruit from the plants you grow and use it to help you push pull and weigh down levers.

This is one of my favorite types of games, it has engaging game play that makes you think, but is simple to pick up and play, has stunning visuals, no monsters to face and soothing lovely music.

This is a great game to play to relax and the price on this gem of a game, which you can download to your PC, is under $10- a steal in my opinion. Undergarden is rated E for everyone and is also available for the PS3 and XBox 360.

*Note to Santa- this is way up there on my list.*

I want to give big props to the makers of this game, for putting out something that's not like anything I have ever seen and has captured my interest in a big way. Undergarden is devolped by Artech Studios and published by Atari.

Win a Melissa and Doug Folding Princess or Medieval Castle from Gummy Lump - CLOSED

Congratulations to Trina, our winner as chosen my random.org.

I want to start our review by saying that I absolutely LOVE Gummy Lump. Besides having a wonderful story behind their silly name, they are a delightfully well-organized store, with fair prices and one of the biggest selections I have ever seen of Melissa and Doug products. All of their Great Toys are geared towards learning and creative play- none of those awful "Push a single button and this toy will play for you!" things. While I obviously haven't played with EVERYTHING they have (But wouldn't that be fun!) from what I have seen, I think I would feel confident buying anything they have to offer. They have an exceptional selection of wooden toys that are built to be played with and last.  Kudos to whoever selects their merchandise! So many places just sell everything, or only the "hottest new thing". Bah, foolish them, I say. Don't they know that those are the toys that get played with once, then tucked in a corner?

One of the best things about the web site is how they have everything organized. You can look by what kind of toy you want, sure, but you can also look based on who you want to give it to- including a category where things are sorted for special needs kids, by what "need" they have. Blind, deaf, gifted, emotional disturbance, no matter who you are looking for, they will have recommendations so that you can be certain you are giving a wonderful gift. They also have a great list of toys for under $10 and toys that would make good stocking stuffers. (Unlike many stocking lists I've seen, these all actually FIT in a stocking!)  While you are there, make sure to check out their gift wizard to make sure you get the perfect thing for the special child in your life.

The toy we received from them was the Melissa and Doug Folding Medieval Castle- I must say, it is beyond awesome! I can not WAIT for Boy to see it under the tree! And yes, it is so amazing, I am going to have it splayed open under the tree so that it is the first thing he will see. We will get a few figurines to go in it (they have a nice little selection, but it seems the right size for some other figurine-style toys he sometimes gets, which I will admit, the others will "grow" with him longer than the Melissa and Doug ones would, especially Toothless and Hiccup that he and mom play all the time-  but the castle has nothing childish about it and will last just fine! Also, the figurines I want have dragons, which as everyone knows are his favorite) and I assume he will barely care about his other presents.

One of my favorite parts about this castle- it unfolds! Even closed up, it is still "open" so that your child can easily reach his hand in to play, but sprawl it open and I can easily see four or so kids playing without having to fight over space- more if they are polite and share well. So with my Boy we will still say four, for now. It is three stories tall, and one of the turrets can be moved around wherever you like- it fits on top of the other towers, or down on the side, and doesn't seem out of place no matter where I put it. Well, except on the drawbridge, but that was just me being silly.

The drawbridge is fully functional, with an easy to turn knob to lift it up and down for inviting neighboring nobility, or thwarting a goblin siege!  The only problem is that the knob is on the outside, so, well, I guess there is nothing besides "it is against the rules" stopping the goblins from coming back in, or keeping you trapped. Of course, when I play castle, things tend to randomly sprout wings or the ability to jump really REALLY SUPER HIGH! so I suppose, either way, the drawbridge is more of an awesome accessory than a practical barrier to invasion.

Another awesome feature is the trap door. You are just walking along la-di-da and all of a sudden, you slide in! Great for slipping away to escape a pursuer (remember those goblins we mentioned before?) or for setting traps "Yes, Mr.Goblin, follow me, come closer...Boom right into a vat of sticky glue tar chocolate! You are stuck! Mwahaha! It is also the right size and angle slant for his favorite hotwheels to slide down, because everyone knows they had hotwheels in EVERY medieval castle. ;-)

Overall, this is a wonderful, high quality wooden toy, which is what I am coming to expect from Gummy Lump every time. This will be sturdy enough even for MY destructo boy, and, yes, I have had a playing with it- er.. testing it out, even without him to play with me yet.

We are beyond excited that Gummy Lump has generously offered one of our fantabulous readers a Melissa and Doug folding castle of their own- winners choice of the Medieval Castle we received or the Princess Castle.  I know, I know, you are SQUEEing with joy, right?  We're excited for you.

The Medieval Castle measures  19 x 19 x 14 inches and the Princess Castle measures 14.6 x 17.3 x 20.2 inches.

If you are as crazy for Melissa and Doug toys as we are (they are on sale at Gummy Lump right now!) we know you will want to maximize your chances so we're offering every extra entry we can think of and making it a daily entry for 2 weeks.  And remember, each entry into our other giveaways is an extra chance to win- and some are extremely low so your chances are excellent.
