Win a Naumes Perfect Pear Gift Set review and giveaway ~closed~
Naumes Fruit Gifts, aka donatefruit.com.
What makes them so special is not only their amazing gifts, but that each fruit gift sold is matched, pound for pound and donated to food banks to feed hungry families.
For many families, 2010 has proven to be an exceptionally tough year, ours included, which is one of the reasons why we have chosen to focus on quality this holiday season. Not only do we want to stretch our dollars as far as they will go, we want to do something to give back whenever possible, and choosing to support companies that have the same philosophy is an effortless way to do that.
Here is a little bit from them:
For the past 100 years, the Naumes family has been committed to growing quality fruit for generations to enjoy. As one of the largest family- owned and operated pear growers in the world, we take great pride in the quality pears we produce.
In addition to our pear gifts, we have also expanded our selection to include Gourmet Gifts. This gives our customers the opportunity to help Feed the Need™ every day through our donatefruit™ cause.
For every gift purchased through the Naumes’ donatefruit™ cause, every purchase will be matched—pound for pound—with an equal donation of fresh fruit to food banks that Feed The Need™. For 1 in 8 American’s hunger is a daily reality. Fresh and nutritious food is a vital component of healthy nutrition. Because needy families often rely on cheaper, processed foods that can lead to obesity and other health problems, donatefruit™ is committed to providing healthy fresh fruit to their tables. To date, the Naumes family has given over 10 million pounds of fresh fruit to Feeding America!
We were fortunate enough to partner with Naumes on a review and giveaway that I just know you will love.
We received the Perfect Pear Gift Set and just reading the description got us salivating, but it really didn't do justice to the glorious contents- from presentation to taste, this lovely hand packed gift was a delight in every sense of the word.
Once we removed them we found a Wood Cutting Board & Cheese Knife and a Pear Planker. Here's where it got fun- we unwrapped one of the pears and realized it was a bit hard- that's a good thing because it stayed nice with no bruising and of course it's usually no big to wait a day or two for it to finish ripening to perfection, but because we wanted to get the review up and give you all a chance to win we decided to go ahead and cut it open to sample.
After unwrapping the handy-dandy pear planker, we ran into a wee bit of a problem as evidenced by the photo- the pear was too big for the planker which was more than okay with us, in this case bigger is definitelly better.
Looking at all the goodies set out on the table we barely knew where to start- one thing looked better than the next.
Next up came the cashews- if you are like us and used to buying the cans at the grocery or discount store, you will be amazed- nice, big fat nuts without all the broken pieces that you usually find and as Dev says, the perfect level of salt to nut ratio- and no there is not even a smidge of a crumb left. ;-)
Dawn is not an olive fan so she tried the yummy walnut fig foccacia crackers with a pear plank and a slice of the beef summer sausage, which comes pre-sliced in a vacuum-sealed package and is nice and fresh. This was the first time we had seen summer sausage pre-sliced and it was a nice surprise, which also would come in handy for a picnic. Her verdict-absolutely delicious and even though the pear could have used a bit more ripening it was fabulous and will only get juicier and sweeter letting it ripen longer.
Kyra is a big olive fan and she loved the black olive tapenade so much she got herself a little dish to put some on or as she says she would have gobbled up the whole big jar. My personal opinion is that I am glad she saved some because I think it will be absolutely perfect on a muffaletta sandwich and since today is grocery day we're going to get the fixings to make one.
While we were busy sampling, Pan (remember, we told you about Ki's new kitty, she brings him up to visit us and the doggies- who all get along great) had other ideas. We had set the box on the couch while we went through the goodies and we found a cuteness overload.
The Perfect Pear Gift Set is Naumes signature wedding/anniversary gift set, but we all enjoyed it and since we had it as a snack and not a meal it was more than enough for 5 of us- with leftover tapenade to enjoy later. At $49.95 we found it well worth it- and since about $25 a person is right in our usual price range for non close family members gift range it is perfect for gift-giving. And remember, your gift gives twice. Give a gift and Feed the Need™. Donate Fruit™ gives a pound of fresh fruit for every pound purchased.
On to the good part- Naumes has generously offered one of our readers their own Perfect Pear Gift Set exactly like we received. *Kitty NOT included.
