Does anyone know?

As you can tell *cough cough hack hack, sorry about the dust* I've been messing around with the blog albeit a lot more than I intended since my big oops.

I have two issues that if anyone can help me with I will be eternally grateful (no, not how to recover my blogroll I am resigned to the fact that I have to totally redo that one).

I have a link bar thingy (hidden til I figure it out) and yay, about time I made this more user friendly! so y'all can find what you are looking for easily.  My question is this: is there any way for me to automatically add posts to a certain category or do I need to create a page for each subject I want to include and add each link separately? 

And.

Even though it says they are supposed to add my labels etc. when I do the check thing it shows I have no meta tags which of course means not so great pr (which I still can't figure how they do but that's totally irrelevant at this time) and I am trying to make something of the blog, even if I am picky. ;-)

BTW I had enough trouble getting this far, I am not willing to move to Wordpress at this time- you would not believe the headaches I get trying to figure this all out, although mad props and kudos to everyone who gave me suggestions, etc...  It really made all the difference.
